Boxer Adrien Broner charged with misdemeanor sexual battery

Former four-division world titleholder Adrien Broner was booked into Fulton County Jail in Atlanta on a misdemeanor sexual battery charge Tuesday morning, according to the facility’s online records.

According to the jail records, the incident occurred on Monday, and Broner had been released on $2,000 bail by Tuesday afternoon after a morning court appearance.

Broner, 28, of Cincinnati, was accused of groping a woman at Lenox Square, an Atlanta shopping mall, according to TMZ Sports.

TMZ posted a video of Broner and others involved in what appeared to be a dispute at the mall that also includes footage of Broner being taken into custody on Monday.

Broner (33-3, 24 KOs) has won world titles from junior lightweight to welterweight. He is scheduled to headline a Showtime-televised card on April 21 against former lightweight world titleholder Omar Figueroa Jr. (27-0-1, 19 KOs), 28, of Weslaco, Texas, in a junior welterweight title elimination fight.

“We’re very concerned about the reported behavior and will continue to monitor the situation, as well as potential repercussions for his scheduled fight,” a Showtime spokesman told ESPN in a statement.

The jail’s records listed Broner at 5-foot-8, 160 pounds — 20 over the weight limit for his upcoming fight. Broner is seeking to bounce back from a one-sided decision loss to Mikey Garcia on July 29.

Broner has been arrested and jailed numerous times, including for robbery, assault, gun possession, domestic violence and public intoxication.
